What's your favorite guitar used by Jerry and why? I'm a sucker for Wolf. Not just because of the level of playing at the time by everyone in the band. The tone is just so perfect, so sweet sounding. I prefer Jerry's tone when the distortion isn't turned up too high. Here's a good read on Wolf:

Also for Phil, nothing will ever compare to Big Brown.

And for Bob, nothing compares to the tone he got from his Gibson ES335. Not a fan of his current tin can sound.

here's a good chronology of jerry's guitars:
http://dozin.com/jers/guitar/history.htm

i love the the sound of his travis bean during spring and summer of '77 as well. i don't know if i prefer the cleaner tone of his bean from '76 or the '77 tone with a little distortion thrown in. in the'80s he used too much distortion imo. although it is fitting for the music they played at the time. i just always go back to the sweet sounds of the '70s. when i need something with an extra kick, i go to the '60s.

how about in 86-87 when he had that tone that sounded like he was cutting glass? Yikes. That one could make an ear bleed.
